Editing a Page
1. To edit a page you need to select the page that you want to edit from the left hand side navigation.
2. Once you have selected the correct page you then click the ‘Design Page’ button which will take you into the design view.
Inserting Pictures
1.When inside design view for a page you will see this icon on the far right of the menu bar:
Click this button then an ‘Image Properties’ window will appear.
2.Now click ‘Browse my Files’ then you can view any previously uploaded images.
3.You can also click ‘Upload’ to upload a new image. If you then click ‘OK’, then image will be added to your page. As a rule of thumb the width and height of the image should not be more than 400 pixels:
Linking from a picture or text
1. To add a hyperlink to your picture you must first be in the design view.
2. First click on the picture and then select the ‘Insert Link’ icon as shown below:
You can then input your URL address into the box provided and select ‘OK’ to add this link to your page:
To have the link open in a new window or tab rather than the same tab, click on 'Target' at the top and select 'New Window_blank' from the dropdown list:
3. If you already have text that you wish to turn into a hyperlink you can simply follow the same procedure, but you highlight the text that you want to turn into a link first.
Adding a link to a file
To add a link to a document such as a newsletter, follow the above steps, first highlighting the text to link from:
When you click on the link icon, select 'Browse Server' to browse for the file you want to link to.
If it is not already uploaded, click on 'upload' and find the file on your computer or server.
Click on 'OK' to confirm the link.
Embedding media from an external site
1. When adding a embedded media to your website, such as a YouTube video, you will first need to get the embed source code from the host provider.
2. Most providers have a share button which will provide you with this code. When you have this code you will then need to go into the design view click on the 'Embed media' icon and paste the code into the text box:
Embedding your own media
To embed your own media, such as a video, you will need to upload the media in a website community in DB Primary.
In the Community view of the Administration area, click on 'Create Community' and choose 'School Website Content' from the dropdown menu:
Upload your video or other media to the gallery.
Now click on the cogs at the top right of the gallery, and open up your uploaded file from the gallery administration page.
Click on 'Show Embed Code' and copy the code shown:
Now navigate back to your website page, click on the Embed Media button:
And paste your embed code into the dialogue box that appears.
Your video or other media will now appear on the webpage.
Arranging the layout with tables
To insert a table select he 'Add table' icon from the text editing menu, as shown below:
In the dialogue box that appears you can change a number of the table properties:
1. Choose the number of columns and rows you want to add.
2. Set the width to 100% so it will expand to fit the size of screen of any computer.
3. To make the table invisible, set the border size to zero.
4. Setting the cell spacing to "10" will create a good gap between each cell.
5. Click on "OK" to confirm your table properties.
6. Now you can click in any cell to insert text and images.
Changing cell properties
You may want to change the properties of the cells in your table, for example to keep the size of each cell equal.
To do this, right click in the cell you wish to edit and select 'Cell Properties':
In the dialogue box that appears, set the width of the cell as desired. In the case below, we want each of the three columns to have an equal width so the width is set to 33.3%.
