Blogging gives learners the chance to publish their ideas and thoughts to the rest of the school. Each entry can be typed/videoed/drawn, and in the improver theme pictures and links can be inserted too.

Adding an image to a blog from the portal

When using the blog tool, it is possible to search your gallery or a community gallery for an image to add. You may also upload to your gallery from the editor. Pupils cannot upload to a community gallery.

Adding an existing saved image

  1. Log in with a pupil improver account
  2. Hover over the blog image on the Quicklinks toolbar and click on Write Entry.


  1. Insert some text into the blog window (required)
  2. Click the Insert Picture button from the editor

5. You will now get a pop up dialogue box. The Latin text is to preview how it will look with text. Click Browse Server

6. You will now get a large pop-up window which will give you the option of going to “My Work” which is your own gallery or any of the communities you are a member of.

7. In this example, an image is going to be added from My Work. Click on the My Work folder to open it and you will be presented with the available images or tags if set:

8.Click on the file name to select it.

Note the left hand navigation tree will show you where you are. Clicking the top icon will take you up a level.

9. The location of the file will now display in the URL section and a preview of the image below. Click on OK to insert the image into your blog.

10.Click on Save button to save your Blog Post.

Uploading an image from your computer whilst editing a blog

It is possible to upload an image directly from your computer into your My Work folder whilst in edit mode. Only teachers or superadmins can upload to a community gallery.

  1. Follow steps 1 to 6 above until you have the popup screen.
  2. Choose the My Work folder. You can imsert a new folder by clicking Create New Folder on the bottom right. Please note that a Folder in the editor refers to a Tag in your My Work section.

If you are creating a new folder, you will be prompted for the name. Enter the name and click OK

  1. Once you have chosen your tag and have opened the folder you are ready to upload your image. To do this, click on the Browse button on the bottom Right

  1. Navigate to your image on your computer and select it.

  1. On the bottom section, click on the Upload button on the right hand side.

  1. Your file will now be ready to insert into your block. Follow steps 8 to 10 above to insert the newly uploaded image to your blog.
