Creating a Survey as a pupil

Improver themed communities will allow pupils to create their own surveys. A pupil is not however able to publish a survey. This needs to be done by a member of staff after they have reviewed it.

Pupils may not create a survey in a community which has a starter theme.

Creating a new survey

In order to be able to create a survey, a pupil will need to go to an Improver themed community and click on the Surveys button. Pupils are not able to create their own surveys in a Starter themed community.

• Pupil logs in with their username and password
• Go to the community homepage in question.
• Click on the Surveys button.

• This will take the student to the Surveys area of the community. If there are any surveys already there then they will be listed in this area.

• To create a new survey, the student will need to click the New Survey button.

• On the next screen, type in the title of the survey to be created and then click on the Create button.

• The survey itself has now been created and just needs the questions to be added. Please note that a description may also be added by clcicking the Edit icon

• Click the edit button to the right of introduction to add a description for the survey. Followed by Save

How to add a question

To add a new question to the survey, click on the Add Question button from the Manage Survey screen. This is the screen which displays after the survey has been created.

After each question is entered, you will be taken back to the Manage Survey screen. Simply keep clicking on Add Question until all the questions have been added.

Question Types

When Add a question is clicked, you will be presented with 8 question types. An example of each question type is listed below.

Click on the question type you wish to use and add your question.

Choose one answer

This question type will offer more than one answer but will only allow one to be chosen. Click on Add Choice to add further answers and Save to save the question.

Choose Many Answers

This question type will offer more than one answer and will allow more than one choice to be made. Click on Add Choice to add further answers and Save to save the question.

Write a short answer

This question type will allow a short 1 line answer to be typed. Click Save to save the question.

Write a long answer

This question type will allow a paragrah to be typed as the answer. Click Save to save the question.

Write a number

This question type will allow only a number to be entered as the answer. Click Save to save the question.

Write an amount of money

This question type will allow an amount of money to be entered as the answer. Click Save to answer the question.

Write a time of day

This question will allow a time to be entered via drop down menu's. Click Save to answer the question.

Write a date

This question will allow a date to be chosen from a calendar. Click Save to answer the question.
