Starter Homepage

This is the page you see when you login. It gives you access to email, calendar, my work, blog, my details, and your communities. It also shows you what's been happening recently on the platform.
Homepage features
- From the homepage you can access all areas of DB Primary.
- Across the top you will find the handy navigation bar with the Homepage, Default Community and Logout buttons.
Quick Links
On the top left you will find the Quick Links. Clicking on items within the Quick Links will take the user direct to their:
Communities
Underneath the quick links you will find a list of all communities you are a member of. By clicking on these you will be taken directly to the community in question.
Blog
The middle part of your homepage is taken up by your blog. This is a space for you to write, draw or video entries which can be viewed by other members of your school community.
- To create a new entry, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "New Entry" button.
- To delete or change an entry click on the title (in the case above: "Video Blogging!"), and you will be taken to this screen:
Change My Details
Here pupils may change their colour, nickname and avatar. They may also choose from the pre-set Fairytale and Aliens styles for their homepage: see below for examples.
Once any changes have been made, click onto the 'Save Changes' button which will store your changes.

Editing pupils' details as a teacher
In the Accounts view of the Administration screen, click on the pencil to the right of the pupil's account you wish to edit.
You will see the following screen:
At the top of the screen you have four tabs to choose from. Click on the links below to find out more about each one:
- In Account you can change names,passwords and page settings for the user's homepage.
- In Memberships you can view and amend memberships of communities.
- In Local Communities you can view and create local communities such as learning logs.
- In Recent Changes you can find out about any recent changes that have occurred to the account.
Account View
Here you will have the option to edit the name, password, nickname, change their group or default community, change their avatar or background image and change their theme or skin.
If the user is using the starter theme, there is the choice of classic or alien skin, as shown below:
Click on 'Save Changes' for these changes to take effect.
In this view, you can also change the login method from the alphanumeric method to 'picture login':

Memberships
Clicking on the Memberships tab of the users My Settings area will take you to the following screen:
The bottom of the screen shows you what communities the user is currently a member of:
To the right of this panel you have the option to change membership rights (click on the badge to change the user to a viewer or leader) or to delete the user's membership of any communities by clicking on the crosses:
To add a user to a particular community, click on the dropdown menu next to Select a community to join and select the community to add them to:
You can also copy the memberships of another pupil to the user. To do this, choose the member from the dropdown list under copy memberships on the right of the screen:
This process will overwrite any other community memberships.
Editing accounts in bulk
You may wish to update the details of more than one pupil, or a whole class.
To do this, put a tick in the check box next to the students you wish to select or if selecting a whole group, tick the folder for that group:
Select 'Edit Multiple' at the top of the accounts list.
You may now edit any of the account details for this group of pupils:
What's On
On the right hand side of the page you will find the What’s On section.
The What’s On will give a live update of activity on any communities you are a member of including new quizzes which come available, new blogs, calendar entries.
It will also notify you of any new emails you have received.
Visiting another users' homepage
- Login with your username and password.
- Click on the community the person you wish to visit is a member of
- Click People to be taken to a list of people who belong to the community
- You will now see a list of people who belong to the community.
- Click on the Image icon to visit the user.
- You will now be taken to that user's homepage.
NB. Clicking on the envelope icon will compose an email to that user.
