About Starter+
The Starter+ theme combines many of the improver theme features in a layout that is simpler for pupils to navigate.
It may be especially suitable for children making the transition to KS2 or those with Special Needs.
All of the main features are readily accessible on the homepage itself.
See below for a quick overview of the layout and features:
Quick Links
This area gives the user access to the following features:
Communities
This area gives access to all the communities that a pupil is a member of.
To find out more about communities, please visit our communities information page.
Tasks and Marked Work
Pupils can click straight through to any outstanding tasks and a record of any completed and marked work is saved under Marked Work.
To find out more information about using tasks, take a look at the Task Manager page.
Calendar
In the Starter+ theme the calendar is displayed prominently as a day view on the homepage so that the user is immediately able to view the events happening that day.
For more information on using the calendar application click here.
For information on Calendar administration tasks such as sharing calendars between communities, setting interval times and importing and exporting communities, click here.
Blog

'Change My Details' 'What's On'
Clicking on Change My Details will take the user to their settings area where they can change a number of details about their homepage.
On the right hand side of the page below the Change My Details section you will find the What’s On section.
The What’s On will give the user live updates of activity in any communities they are a member of including new quizzes which come available, new blogs, calendar entries.
It will also notify them of any new emails they have received.
Picture login
A visual login option may be useful for the younger pupils or for pupils with special educational needs.
The children will select up to five pictures in the correct order and click on the tick to the right to login:
To change the login theme for an individual, visit the Accounts view of the Administration area, locate the pupil and click on the pencil to the right of their name:
In the password area of the account settings screen you can choose either the normal alphanumeric login option or pictures theme.
Having chosen the pictures option, select either animals or fruit and click on between one and five pictures to save as the password:
Click on save changes to confirm your choices.
To edit the login details for more than one account at a time, use the Edit multiple feature.
Note: The pupils using the pictorial login theme will need a different url from the usual school portal address. Each pupil using this theme will require the link which leads directly to their own homepage. Using this link will override the need for entering a username and take them directly to where they enter their password.
To get the homepage address of a particular pupil, visit their homepage from the Accounts view of the administration screen by clicking on their avatar:
When you are on their homepage, copy the url from the web address bar at the top of the screen:
