This blog will be viewable when other staff or children visit your homepage. You can publish entries using the simple editor to add words and pictures.
Adding an image to a blog from the portal
When using the blog tool, it is possible to search your gallery or a community gallery for an image to add. You may also upload to your gallery from the editor. Only teachers or superadmins will be able to upload into a community gallery however.
Adding an existing saved image
- Log in with a staff or superadmin account
- Click on the create blog pencil icon and select 'create'.
- Insert some text into the blog window (required)
- Click the Insert Picture button from the editor
- You will now get a pop up dialogue box. Click Browse Server
- You will now get a large pop-up window which will give you the option of going to “My Files” which is your own gallery or any of the communities you are a member of.
- In this example, an image is going to be added from the Class A community. Click on the community name to open it and you will be presented with the available tags in the community:
- Choose which tag relates to your image to see a list, in this case, the image is under Our Pets. Click on the file name to select it.
Note the left hand navigation tree will show you where you are. Clicking the top icon will take you up a level.
- The location of the file will now display in the URL section and a preview of the image below. Click on OK to insert the image into your blog.
- Click on Save to save your Blog Post.
Uploading an image from your computer whilst editing a blog
It is possible to upload an image directly from your computer into your gallery whilst in edit mode. If you are a teacher or a superadmin, you will also have authority to add an image to a community gallery.
- Follow steps 1 to 6 above until you have the popup screen.
- Choose the Tag (folder) you wish to add the image to or click on Create New Folder on the bottom right. Please note that a Folder in the editor refers to a Tag in your galleries.
If you are creating a new folder, you will be prompted for the name. Enter the name and click OK
- Once you have chosen your tag and have opened the folder you are ready to upload your image. To do this, click on the Browse button on the bottom Right
- Navigate to your image on your computer and select it.
- On the bottom section, click on the Upload button on the right hand side.
- Your file will now be ready to insert into your block. Follow steps 8 to 10 above to insert the newly uploaded image to your blog.
Deleting and Editing Blog Entries
Use the Quicklink from your homepage or pupil's homepage to navigate to the blog you wish to edit or delete:
Click on the cogs in the top right of the screen to go to the administration view.
You will need to click on the Date Title of the topic to take you to the further edit and delete options:
You will then be given some further options such as editing or deleting your blog:
Choosing edit will take you to the following screen where you can make any amendments you wish:
