The Learning Library
There are a number of topic communities with pre-made content that you can download to your own school portal.
To view a list of all currently available communities, click here.
In the learning library you can browse, rate, comment on and copy community templates into your own school portal.
To access the Learning Library, click the Learning Library tab will can be found in the Administration area:
The community templates can be browsed through in the 'featured templates' area or searched for in the search box at the top right of the screen (entering a '*' into the search box will list all communities).
To view more information about the communities, click on the details button in the featured templates pane or click on the picture icon of any of the communities.
In this area you can read a description of the content of the community and add your own comments and ratings to the community.
Clicking on the preview button gives you a snapshot of the community's front page. If you would like to add this community to your school portal, click on download:
The same options to choose, view details and view a preview are also available in the featured templates area on the front page:
In the Learning Library you can also view the most popular (most downloaded) and highest rated templates:
Sharing your own communities
When your learning library is enabled, you can share your own communities with other schools using DB Primary. Other users will be able to download, comment on and rate your shared community as they can with the DB Primary produced ones.
To share your community, click on the cogs at the top right of your screen.
In the community administration area, select 'Create Template':
You will see the following dialogue box:
Name your community and set the tags for the community. The tags will help people find your community when they use the search box so you should give as much detail as possible, stating subject area and key stage if appropriate.
When you have finished tagging and naming your community, click on 'Yes' to confirm the information. You will be taken to the following screen:
You will now need to create a description for your community. To do this, visit the Learning Library:
To find your community, enter one of the tags into the search box that you assigned the community or search for all communities by placing a star in the search box:
When you have found the community in the listing, click on the 'Description' tab:
In the dialogue that appears, enter a detailed description that will let other users know what is in your community:
Click on 'Save' to finish.
